I think anyone wanting my personal information ought to pay me for it. If they turn it over to spammers, then I want a piece of their profit, too.

Yep, I'm thinking prospective employers ought to pay me for my personal information and then return it to me for a partial refund if they do not hire me.

Yep, I am sure this will help those who are unemployed, like me.

You can bet, I'm doing background checks on employers before I apply to them. I want to be sure they are solvent. Employers do not like that at all.

What responsibility of confidentiality do employers have after receiving my personal information? Anyone think about protecting applicants' information?

Actually, I kind of feel bad for the few legitimate companies out there. The scammers are probably really hurting them.

I think these tips apply to other work from home opportunities too, not just secret shopping. I see so many different scams like this that target desperate people like single mothers, busy students, or the unemployed.

It sucks that people take advantage of individuals just trying to make a few extra dollars. I have always been interested in doing the secret shopping but never followed through on it because I never knew if it was a scam or not. This gives me some sort of direction on how to spot a good or very bad opportunity.

Not that it pertains directly to this particular scam, but it bothers me how normal it is to be asked for your personal information. Every time I make a purchase, I'm offered a rewards card or mailing list that requires my home address, phone number and date of birth. Being asked so often makes people more comfortable in providing their info and thus more open to being a victim of a scam like this one. Be careful America!
